I believe I started following Medina of Grillo Designs sometime early last year, but when you see someone with such creative talent – you just KNOW they will do great things… like writing the most lovely DIY home decor book for renters, Home Sweet Rented Home.
Not your Average DIY Book
Believe me when I say this book is a great read for anyone. Medina seamlessly incorporates her beautiful aesthetic and style into the pages of this DIY book.
She has broken the book into 6 main categories : walls, flooring, storage, lighting and windows, home accessories and built-ins.
Her entryway was the first project I saw and I think my jaw hit the floor. Friends, she used removable wallpaper and it makes my heart so happy. I love her ability to stick to a limited color palette while mixing her patterns and making EVERYTHING look amazing.
Another thing I loved about her book, is she talks about how to do a project, like how to paint furniture (below). She includes a little backstory, the supplies needed and a few items to note.
Then, on the following pages are adorable illustrations and a step by step tutorial on how to complete the DIY project.
Although we own our home, our last home was an adorable little rental house. And I found it so helpful to find other renters who were pushing the envelope on making their rental space, their home.
Medina does an INCREDIBLE job of sharing completely do-able, budget friendly, uber creative rental projects. So much so, that I am almost convinced to pull out my husband’s power tools and give a few of these projects a try myself!
I was gifted this book, but without a doubt all my glowing reports are 100% my own.
