As summer rolls around, I love thinking up fun memory making activities I can do with my kids. One year, we made all sorts of different lemonade recipes and fruit drinks all summer. I think Watermelon lemonade was our favorite.
One summer, we decided to try all the crazy fruit drinks that Starbucks had on their menu. And then last summer we decided to try all the blizzards offered at Dairy Queen. We would pick a day (it was Tuesday) and we would adventure out, get our special treat and then RANK it.
Ranking and documenting our thoughts on the treat made the adventure even more of a bonding special thing. (Oh yes, we’ve also done this with Jeni’s Ice Creams in December).
Creating an Ice Cream Checklist with your kids is a fun thing to look forward to all week and then at the end of the summer be able to see which places you loved most. It’s been a fun tradition for us and I decided to share my printable with you!
Planning your Ice Cream Bucket List
The first thing to do before starting your summer ice cream visits is to brainstorm your basic plan. You could plan to try numerous different ice cream flavors or toppings from one specific location or you could try different ice creams from a big list of stores in your city.
The main thing is to make it a family affair and let everyone contribute their ideas.
Our list was of all the ice cream shops local to us and then we did our best try as many of them as we could over the course of the summer!
Creating the Ice Cream Checklist
Next up is making the actual checklist. You can so a simple or complex as you want here. You can use a notebook or my fun printable checklist below. Read to the end of the post to get your download.
Be sure to include spaces for each ice cream item, checkboxes to mark them off and make a space for your rating system to document your favorites.
Summertime Ice Cream Adventure
Once you have your ice cream bucket list filled out, it’s time to embark on your ice cream journey! This is such family fun.
Visit different ice cream shops, try new flavors and have fun experimenting with toppings. Take pictures, document your experiences with each person’s ratings or your overall rating score and create lasting summer memories!
At Home Ice Cream Maker
And if you want to still do this fun summer activity for kids, but from the comfort of your own home, you could certainly do homemade ice creams with a CUISINART Ice Cream Maker. I have a MUCH OLDER model of this machine and it has worked for years!
And this NINJA Soft Serve machine was just released and all the fancy people are loving it! Fancy meaning, fancier than me who have bought it – ha. But in all honesty, it really does look so very cool.
