Albuquerque’s Best Independent Coffee Shops
While nationwide chains have their place, Albuquerque’s true coffee character lies in it’s independent shops.
These local businesses often prioritize ethically sourced beans, skilled baristas and have a welcoming ambiance that makes you want to bring a book, get a drink and stay a while! If you have a favorite coffee shop in town, be sure to comment at the end of this post and I’ll make sure to stop by.
Meraki Coffee + Market
Meraki is definitely one of the “cool” spots to get a morning coffee and a fresh breakfast. I love their simple decor and they are one of the few local spots that actually have their garage door walls open as soon as the weather is nice!
My favorite coffee is their basic Vanilla Latte, but I’ve also had a few of their seasonal specialty drinks, a Lavender Latte comes to mind – which have also been amazing. If you are curious about their brunch food, check out my Best Restaurants in Albuquerque, NM post (yum).
Heatwave Coffee
I have to say, Heatwave may just be one of my favorite coffee shops in town. I often frequent it after dropping off my kiddos in the morning at school and I’m never disappointed. The staff is so friendly and the vibe inside is modern clean and inviting.
I love the mugs + glassware they use and my Iced Vanilla Latte is always incredible.
They are also known for making all their syrups from scratch and they feature Little Bear Coffee’s specialty roasts.
The ABQ Collective Coffee Shop
I swung into The ABQ Collective today to browse their fun market shops and while there got myself an Amaretto Iced Latte from the coffee shop right inside. The menu said it was a combination of cherry and apricot syrups. I was worried it was going to be too sweet, but I was pleasantly surprised! It definitely taste like an iced latte with just a hint of those flavors… which is just how I like it.
The Farmacy Coffee
The Farmacy is a great local spot for breakfast on the weekend. I love sitting outside on their patio and no surprise I got their vanilla latte. Both my meal AND my coffee was wonderful!
Suenos Coffee
Suenos Coffee Co. was my first experience with a walk-in mobile coffee shop and it was SO darling! This is not your average food truck, you actually walk up a ramp and into their truck which has wood planked walls, a large flat screen tv, plants on shelves and a FULL coffee shop right there.
Their truck was so popular, they’ve opened a brick and mortar location downtown on Broadway. With pastries and seasonal coffee flights, this is a must try spot!
