Lady Liberty, Summer Blog Hop
Hello readers. I love design challenges and today I am sharing my Lady Liberty Fourth of July post with NO red, white or blue!
Tasha from Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body is hosting a Summer Blog hop and until July 4th you can see more than 30 bloggers ‘non traditional colors’ projects. Be sure to read to the bottom where you can see all the first week projects and believe me, they are amazing. We also are hosting a Target giveaway, so don’t forget to enter that as well.
Adhesive Vinyl + Silhouette printer
For only $0.99 I downloaded the Statue of Libery’s silhouette from Silhouette’s online store. I then cut it out using my machine. I removed Lady Liberty and attached the contact paper to transfer it over to the burlap.
While in the Silhouette software, I drew by hand the starburst around the perimeter. Since I was going to be sponge painting in the negative space, I removed the actual stickers and left the rest on my canvas.
I wanted to do an ombre effect with Lady Liberty. So, starting at the bottom, I applied my darkest orange color. Then I opened a mixed in my medium peachy orange color. That went next and then just the straight peach color. And so on…
Here are the colors I ended up using.
I also added gold and tapered it out.
And there She is, all completed! Fourth of July without a speck of red, white or blue!
Now, before you head out, be sure to check out the AMAZING projects that were shared last week AND be sure to enter for your chance to win a $310 Target Gift Card by using the Rafflecopter at the end of the post!
I’m away at Alt Summit right now but you can follow my activities on Instagram!
