I love how much color and pattern this Nautical party holds to celebrate the Fourth of July! From the blue dash painted table runner that mimics the ocean water, to all the fun garlands and hanging fans on the back wall there are simple decorations for any style.

One of the many Fourth of July party decorations were these simple to make star plastic plates. I am sharing how I put together this entire party that I created for Oriental Trading’s FUN365 site today. Head over to check out how it all came together.
Blue Ribbon wands
Creating ways for younger kids to be a party of 4th of July celebrations like these fun ribbon wands is a great way to include them without having them near fireworks.
These can be easily made by stapling, gluing or wrapping ribbons around the end of a wooden dowel. You can also purchase pre-made ribbon wands.
Star plastic plates
These plastic plates are so much fun for the 4th of July or even a space themed birthday party celebration!
Simply hot glue a silver star to the underside of a clear plastic plate.
Then, flip the plate over and lightly dust it with a blue spray paint. I used a more teal/aqua spray paint to add a little color variation at my Nautical themed table, but any shade of blue (or even red) would be fun!
*Note – As long as the paint is applied ONLY to the underside, these are food safe. They will need to be either hand washed or thrown away afterwards.
American Flag Sailboat craft
This party has great 4th of July decorations and craft ideas for kids, too.
Creating Amercian Flag sailboat centerpieces are a great craft idea to play with, centerpieces for the table, but also they would make fun place settings!
Supplies needed to craft little Flag Sailboats
- Wooden Craft Sailboats (These come in a set of 12)
- Acrylic paint
- Craft paint brushes
How to paint a 4th of July flag on a craft boat
To paint American Flags on little craft sailboats, start by pulling out your red, white and blue craft paints. I gave the bottom edge of my boats a coat of aqua blue paint for a fun touch!
Then, I began by painting the far left corner of the sail a solid blue color. I used a dark almost navy blue paint, but any shade of blue acrylic paint will work.
After the blue was dry, I used a q-tip to dip into white paint and add the “stars” of the flag.
Lastly, I used a small craft paint brush to create the red stripes on the remaining blank space of the sailboat.
If you are planning a get together for this summer’s July 4th, then don’t forget to pin this project now and save it for your next party planning session!
