I’ve done three of them so far and it’s only March, ha. There has been something so lovely about having a kit sitting out that I can work on to destress and still make art. It reminds me of a doing a puzzle almost, but more creative.

Tips for a finished piece of art

If you want your canvas to look less like a craft project and more like a piece of art you’d like to hang on the wall, try these tricks below.

Iron your canvas: Use a low heat setting to get rid of fold lines before you start. I often don’t do this and when I’ve completed the painting – I always regret not doing a quick iron.
Add a drop of water: If your paint feels too thick, a single drop of water added to the paint pot can help it glide smoother over the linen.
Don’t stress over the lines: Once you’re done, you will be amazed how perfectly crisp lines almost blur into each other. Make your line work as clean as you can, but it matters less than you think – so don’t stress over it.
Invest in Better Brushes: The brushes included in most kits are… very okay. For $10, you can buy a set of decent detail brushes (look for size 0, 00, or 1) that will make filling small segments so much easier.
Don’t Let the Paint Dry Up: Modern acrylics dry fairly fast. Keep the little pots sealed tightly when not in use. If a color seems thick, add one single drop of water to revive it.
