You know how some people, even though you don’t live nearby, you know you would be besties if you had the chance? Well, my friend Lena and I would fit that category.
We married long time guy best friends, but live on different sides of the country. Whenever we all meet up… there’s no end in our conversation about home decor, crafts, shopping, nail polish colors, babies, blogs, books… I’ll stop now.
This past summer, during a recent summer Midwest visit, I was sitting in Lena’s home, drooling over her sweet baby girl’s nursery. I mean it was so darling and immediately I asked Lena if I could share it on my blog!
Welcome to baby girl’s aqua, yellow and gray adorable nursery!!!
When Amy asked me to share my daughter’s nursery with you guys, I was ecstatic. It meant someone else liked that room almost as much as I do and also there was another good reason to clean the room and finally take decent pictures.
What was your inspiration for your baby girl’s nursery?
When my little lady was still in the oven, I searched for some nursery inspiration on Pinterest.
I pinned so many fun ideas and quickly set my mind on the oh-so-favorite gray-yellow color combo. We weren’t finding out the sex of our baby and it seemed like a safe color choice for either boy or girl.
Since having my little Annika girl, I’ve added some pink to “girlify” the room a bit like this adorable pink tutu, a little pink piggy bank and more.
What style would you say this room would be described as?
If you were to ask me to describe the nursery in a couple of words, I’ll do you better and give you one: hodgepodge.
Actually, can we, please, call it eclectic?
You will see a crafty handmade bird mobile hanging beside retro chalkboards, a vintage metal rocking chair standing alongside a classic reinterpreted bedside table.
Were there are any fun DIY projects made for this room?
Yes, there were multiple fun little DIY projects I (or friends) made for Anika’s room! I made a DIYed sunburst mirror and painted it bright yellow. I was inspired by Amy’s idea, actually – Sunburst Mirror.
We also got a fun hand-me-down dresser and some “garage-saled” and repurposed items. If you think those things clash we probably won’t be friends. I will wear grungy frayed jeans with a white delicate lacy top and eat crepes with caviar (that’s the Russian in me. YUM!).
Tell us more about that adorable Bird House mobile!
A sweet local friend made this and gifted it to us during our baby shower. She took a small bird house and painted it white, gray and yellow. Then she folded origami birds 11 or so birds and tied them to white painted twigs hanging from the bottom of the bird house.
It turned out SO adorable!
So this room is just so ME and I hope our little lady loves it as much as I do.
So far she feels rather comfortable in there – she is 16 months old now and has already gone in and closed the door right in front of my face.
I hope you guys enjoy Annika’s nursery and thank you, Amy, for having me here at Delineate Your Dwelling – I feel right at home!
Thanks so much, Lena for opening your home to all of us. I’m so glad you feel at home here on Delineate Your Dwelling because, surprise… we’re all moving into that adorable baby girl’s space!
