This has to be one of the easiest and quickest recipes I’ve whipped up to entertain the kiddos in a while. And the entire time, my oldest kept squealing, “More painting, mama! More painting!” Today I am sharing how to make Homemade Chalk Paint!

The ingredient list is so simple. I have a feeling we will be doing “more painting” all summer long.
Ingredients for Homemade Chalk Paint:
2 tablespoons of Cornstarch
2 tablespoons of Water
Are you ready for the directions? Grab some paper and a pencil. Ready….
1. Add cornstarch to a disposable cup.
2. Drop in food coloring.
This is where it gets really complex.
3. Add in water.
Oh yes, and then mix.
This is what it looked like once we had done the thirty second directions. I could just drink the teal blue color it’s so pretty.
Did I mention the entire thirty seconds both my kiddos were standing at my feet screaming? Why is it whenever you are preparing for something fun, they act like wild animals? I swear they can sense that kind of thing.
Once we were outside, they both had a blast! Since it was all non.toxic materials, I certainly wasn’t encouraging eating or getting it on our clothes, but it didn’t really matter if they did either. It was really cool how it painted wet and as it dried, it looked just like regular chalk.
Since they somehow ended up getting it on themselves, their clothes, the outdoor table and chairs AND the grill… I was quite relieved to see it cleaned up with no trouble after using some water.
Empty cups equals we used up every little bit of chalk paint.
What fun crafts will you be doing this summer?
