Who doesn’t love the Back to School sections of stores around this time of the year?!  I could stare at pencils and crayons and glue and tape forever. I am so excited to share this fun DIY I made with my sweet little girl, as she heads off to preschool for the first time this year (cue a little tear of happiness and sadness)!

I let her go a little crafty crazy and she made a Kiddo Personalized Pencil Case to hold her little supplies for school.

Target’s Back to School supplies

First thing we did was head to Target to their back to school section and got our supplies.  My little lady said pink, red and glitter were her requirements.  I said there was no way glitter and Elmer’s Glue were involved without grabbing some Wet Ones wipes.  Thank goodness, Target knows what’s up and had an Elmer’s School Glue and Wet Ones combo pack, sold in select Target stores while supplies last.

Target to the rescue, as always.

What supplies do I need to make a personalized pencil case?

Canvas Bag
Acrylic Paint
Die cut letters or stickers
Elmer’s Glue
Wet Ones
Glitter

Kiddo Personalized Pencil Case supplies

The first step was to cut out “Miss A” (this is one of my many nicknames for her) using my die cut machine.  You could use stickers just as easily.  And then it was time to start adding paint and kiddo #1 went to town!

“Mama, I miiiiight have got some paint on my hands.”  A quick swipe with the Wet Ones and all the paint was gone.

But then came the requested glitter… first the glue.

The girl isn’t shy with glitter.

After everything had dried, I pulled the Miss A stickers off and presto a fun and simple pencil case!

  1. Amy, this is too cute! My step-daughter will love to make her own pencil case. She is much more crafty than I am. I am working on being creative, myself. I found you via the Collective blog hop. I am now following on Google+ and Pintrest. I look forward to sharing some great finds like this with my kids!
