Welcome to another edition of my Open House series! Today I have the honor of sharing a stunningly regale home with you. My sweet mother in.law has made her home look as if you’ve stepped into a House Beautiful magazine and she does it with such ease.
Come on in and sit a spell…
Vicki’s home has an open floor plan with the main living room as the main hub. She and her husband, were fortunate enough to be able to build this as their retirement home. Very true to Vicki’s personality, she had the entire home’s color scheme and decor decided on well before the house was completed. She knows what she likes and always has a plan!
The paint colors for most of the home are a robin egg’s blue (Sherwin Williams Rainwashed), a chocolate brown and a cream. With the open floor plan, everything so easily flows into each other.
Here is a basic layout of their home:
Let’s start at the living room and go from there.
Vicki did so many wonderful DIY’s in her home. These bookcases she had owned for years. She painted the exterior and front white and it instantly updated the look.
(side note: one of my etsy prints is featured on the second shelf from the top.
I gave Vicki a graphic print of her home’s exterior for Christmas!)
One cabinet in Vicki’s kitchen was left without cabinet doors. She painted the inside of the cabinet back wall the same color as the kitchen. She also added delicate lace along the fronts to add texture and interest. I just love how this turned out!
Sweet silhouettes of Vicki’s two sons are displayed in her laundry room. My hubs is the one on the right hand side. What a cutie little boy.
Don’t you just love the stunning shadows this chandelier casts in the casual dining room? It’s all in the details.
I think the Florida Room is one of my favorites spaces in Vicki’s home. Their home backs up to a natural wetland and this room has been laid out to just sit and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. It’s also chalked full of DIY’s!
Did I mention Vicki lives in Florida? She has such a lovely display of nautical items.
Look at that stunning ceiling! Would you believe it’s wallpaper. I would have never guessed had I not seen it on the roll before she had it installed.
Thank you so much, Vicki for sharing your lovely home with us! Can we all agree that she has quite an eye for creating a warm and welcoming home.
