Little Girl’s Nursery, Open House

You know how some people, even though you don’t live nearby, you know you would be besties if you had the chance?  Well, my friend Lena and I would fit that category.  We married long time dude best friends but live on different sides of the country.  Whenever we all meet up… there’s no end in our  conversation about home decor, crafts, shopping, nail polish loves, babies, blogs, books, fashion… I’ll stop now.

This past summer, during a recent summer Midwest visit, I was sitting in Lena’s home, drooling over her baby girl’s nursery.  I mean serious drooling.  Lena knows crazy cute and she does it well.

Welcome to baby girl’s, drool worthy nursery…

Nursery Intro

When Amy asked me to share my daughter’s nursery with you guys, I was ecstatic. It meant someone else liked that room almost as much as I do, and also there was another good reason to clean the room and finally take decent pictures.

When my little lady was still in the oven, I searched for some nursery inspiration in my head, and when findings were insufficient, I turned to the Urban Encyclopedia of All Things You Can’t Believe You Haven’t Thought Of Yourself. Or, as commonly known, Pinterest.  I pinned and pinned, and quickly set my mind on the oh-so-favorite gray-yellow color combo (my pregnant mind forbade me to be different from the masses:)). We weren’t finding out the sex of our baby, and it seemed like a safe choice for either boy of girl. Since having my Annika, I’ve added some pink to “girlify” the room.

If you were to ask me to describe the nursery in a couple of words, I’ll do you better and give you one: hodgepodge. Actually, can we, please, call it eclectic?

You will see a classic intricate {handmade} bird mobile hanging beside contemporary chalkboards, a retro rocking chair standing alongside a classic reinterpreted (I googled that one!) bedside table. There is an expensive crib (gift from my amazing in-laws), a DIYed sunburst mirror (Amy’sidea, btw), hand-me-down dresser, and some “garage-saled” and repurposed items.  If you think those things clash we probably won’t be friends. I will wear grungy frayed jeans with a white delicate lacy top and eat crepes with caviar (that’s the Russian in me. YUM!). So this room is ME, and I hope the little lady loves it as much as I do. So far she feels rather comfortable in there – she is 16 months old and has already gone in and closed the door right in front of my face.

I hope you guys enjoy Annika’s nursery, and thank you, Amy, for having me here. Delineate is so hospitable, I feel right at home.

Thanks so much, Lena for opening your home to all of us.  I’m so glad you feel at home here on Delineate Your Dwelling because, surprise… we’re all moving into that adorable baby girl’s space!
