Delineate Your Dwelling

Propagation in simple terms is growing new plants from old plants.   If done properly, plants can regrow completely new plants from parts of themselves.

1

Start by taking a cutting from a healthy plant.  Then remove the lower few leaves, exposing the nodes.

The nodes are the slightly enlarged spot on the stem.  They will eventually become your new plant’s root system.

2

Next, place the cutting in a jar filled with water.  Make sure the node is fully submerged at least an inch or so.  Remove any leaves that are in the water.

Place the jar of water in a warm, bright location.  Avoid direct sunlight as your new plant is fragile right now and too much light could kill it.

Plan to change out the water every other week to get fresh oxygen to the roots.

Even Snake Plant cuttings will grow roots and new shoots in water propagation.

Pothos cuttings grow new roots very easily in water propagation.
