Check out how I updated this old chair and transformed it into my new fun burlap “Stop Pinning Start Making Chair“! I inherited from my Grandma Gloria and although the sentimental value is high, the actual chair was really lacking.

The first thing I did on this project was to remove the slip-on canvas backing. Once it was off, I gave the chair a few nice even coats of white spray paint.
I recently got this cool “stop pinning start making” canvas tote bag and thought it would be the PERFECT back to my chair!
It just so happened that the bag was the perfect size to cut down and apply to my chair back! My chair’s original canvas was sagging, so after doing a little internal repair, it was good to go.
I made a paper template of the inside portion of the chair pack. And then used that to cut the tote bag down to size.
Since I was applying the tote to the back of the chair, I decided to just use hot.glue to adhere the two pieces together.
I also added this fun white felt ribbon to the perimeter. It helped hide the cut edge.
And my final touch was adding a paper flower from the Spring Oh Joy party line at Target. I could cover my house top to bottom in these paper flower and still want more. I major heart them. I cut out a little leaf from some spare ribbon I had sitting around.
I loved taking that fun tote and turning it into something even better. Have you done something like that before?
